The Town of Hillsboro Beach is located on a small peninsula just over 3 miles long on an exclusive stretch of oceanfront in north Broward County. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west, State Highway A1A is the one road going into the town. Completed in 1907, the historic Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is at the northern end of the reef and has a height of 136 feet above the water. The Hillsboro Lighthouse contains a 5,500,000 candle power light and is the most powerful light on the east coast of the United States. There are about 2,300 year round residents and just over 3,000 seasonal residents during the winter months. Waterfront single family homes, cottages and condominiums have the attractive look of an island escape with breathtaking waterviews, just steps to the Atlantic Ocean. The Hillsboro Club offers members and their guests 1,000 feet of private beach with first-class service on over 15 acres of extensive and mature tropical gardens.
